I was recently asked to review Design Essential's Coconut and Monoi Deep Moisture Balm, to which I replied yes!
I was surprised when I discovered the product I was reviewing was created to be used on both hair and body. I have always used separate products for my hair and skin, the thought of one product all over seemed a little too good to be true. However, I was willing to put the Deep Moisture Balm to the test having already tried and loved the Milk Soufflé, Oil Treatment, and not forgetting the Deep Moisture Masque from the Coconut and Monoi range.
I wanted to see if the balm lived up to the high standards the other products met.

As always, before I receive a product I always do a little research. I found that the Deep Moisture Balm is a 10-in-1, preservative-free blend featuring Shea Butter and ten of the most exotic and efficacious oils for repair, strength and shine. It is infused with Marula Oil and Moringa Oil, its lightweight, a highly moisturising balm and can be used as a daily hydrator for hair, scalp skin and body.

At this point I was really excited and couldn't wait for the balm to arrive. So once I received the Deep Moisture Balm, the first thing I noticed was the consistent sweet coconut scent just like all the products from the Coconut and Monoi line. The balm is white in colour and has a very thick solid consistency which softens and melts as soon as it touches the warmth of your hand. It kind of reminded me of a shea butter and coconut mix but with extra added nutrients!

The directions for use state to first rub a small amount into your hands for even distribution. Then apply to wet or dry skin and hair. To specially target dry areas including hair ends, feet, and hands.

I decided to first try the Deep Moisture Balm as a moisturiser on dry hair. I rubbed a small amount into my hands and evenly distributed the balm throughout my hair from root to tip. I then gave my scalp a little massage and could feel my hair absorbing all the moisture and oils. It left my hair feeling really moisturised without the weighed down greasy feeling. When I woke up the next day I was really surprised when I didn’t need to add more product to my hair. My hair still felt very soft, hydrated and had lots of shine.

For my skin, I emulsified the product in my hands until it melted and gently smoothed the balm onto my skin. I didn’t need to use too much as a little did go a long way. After a long day out and about, my skin continued to feel hydrated and soft throughout the day, especially my hands which were exposed to the harsh London cold.

Overall I feel the Deep Moisture Balm is a great product which delivers its promises to hydrate and moisturise both hair and skin. As someone who travels often, I found the Deep Moisture Balm is a brilliant multitasker. It can be a space saver and great to take with you on long journeys or flights to help prevent dry hair and skin. What I like about this product is that it can be used on both damp and dry hair, is a heat protectant, combats frizz, gives amazing shine, hydrates and softens skin.
What is there not to like!
