Below is the very first natural hair blog post which I wrote for a group blog (I didnt have my own blog at the time) called UKAfro. I came across the save file on my laptop and it made me really emotional to see how excited I was and to realise-how far I have come! So please have a read and celebrate my 1 year blogging anniversary with me!

My Night With Lush!

On Thursday 21st August2014, I travelled
to Lush Cosmetics on Regent Street London
to attend a Carnival themed Natural Hair Event. The first ever Lush Cosmetics
Natural Hair Event!
I was really excited upon getting the news
as I had heard of the infamous Lush brand. Internationally recognised for producing
fresh handmade cosmetics. For those of
you who may not be familiar with Lush,
their products consist of natural ingredients including fruit and vegetables and have a closer than usual use by date. As well as having the date it was produced and the name of the person who made it. I couldn’t wait to head on down and get my hands on some Lush goodies.
As I arrived at the store I saw a group of curly beauties outside rocking their curls and cameras, I knew I was at the right spot. Even though the invite said it started at 7pm we didn’t actually get in till about 7:30pm. It wasn’t too bad as all the bloggers were catching up and taking pictures of course.

The first things I noticed before I even stepped inside was the sweet fresh aroma as well as the bright colours of the Ballistics and soaps beautifully arranged and looking like sweets. Inside we were greeted by Lush PR Olivia and the Lush team. We proceeded on downstairs where we were offered drinks (Lush punch yum!) and allowed to mingle and browse the shop. As I went round I was able to try and test out all the products with the help of friendly and well informed Lush members.
Lush had clearly thought of everything as Regent Street Lush basement transformed into a natural hair bloggers paradise. The shop basement was sectioned into mini transformation stands with very exciting things happening.
Wendy the in-house Hairdresser was offering complementary hair treatments to willing bloggers, who then had a shower cap placed on their treated mane. They then were lead to the most popular stand of the night to have a beautiful African wrap tied by Lorene from @AkhuDesigns. Looking fabulous and conditioning at the same time, what a treat!

Flower artist Harriet was ready for any blogger who was interested
in having a Hair Knot-Wrapping as well as fresh floral adornments styled beautifully in their hair.
In-house Makeup artist Hannah was giving bloggers a Carnival inspired makeover with Lush’s Emotional Brilliance makeup range.
I had a bright gold eye-shadow called Fantasy applied by Hannah which I was then given as a freebie. A first of many to come!
Hairdresser Monique Brathwaite was the person to go to if you wanted your curls to be transformed into a glamorous ‘up-do’.
She was very friendly and had an amazing gorgeous ombre
hair colour which she told a funny story of how it came about.
Lloyd, Martha, Felicity and many more Lush members were absolutely amazing in explaining Lush’s products in more detail.
They even went through the ingredients listed on products.
I loved how everyone was in such high spirits, it really felt like I
was out with a group of friends. The event had a party vibe which made it easy to enjoy yourself and meet new people.

As the event came to an end everyone received a goodie bag filled with Lush goodies. After one last punch (of many) everyone took a picture together to support the Mike Brown tragedy across the Atlantic in Ferguson, USA.
What can I say?....I spent an awesome night hanging out with fabulous blogging beauties who all got into the carnival groove, whilst being pampered by the lovely Lush.
Bloggers left with a freebie bag which contained Lush products Zest Hair Gelly, R&B Hair Moisturiser, Jungle Hair Conditioner as well as Lush Roots Hair Treatment which sadly my goodie bag did not contain. Nonetheless I had a great night and cannot wait to test them out on my hair.
Overall a great night out!
