Shea Moisture's Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie (SMCES)

When I first heard about Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie I heard such amazing reviews and was eager to test it out. I ordered it online and when it came I stopped everything else that needed doing. Purchasing a product packed with ‘certified organic’ ingredients usually means you are someone who cares highly about the health of their hair. Which I consider myself to be.

First impressions, I loved the sweet smell and the thick creamy custard like texture, perfect for my thick curly hair. I loved the fact the ingredients list is not full of harmful additives. Not to forget it mentions that it can be used to style both wet and dry hair. 

Personally I prefer to style my hair from a damp/wet state. Not only does my hair seem to love water, products seem to work better when my hair is wet.I still will give it a go on dry hair.

Wet hair: (tested styling hair in braid-out, twist-out, wash and go)
When I applied (SMCES) to my hair it coated my hair smoothly without it feeling heavy or weighed down. I really noticed a little went a long way, so used a small amount. When my hair dried it had a smooth yet soft hold without leaving my hair with a greasy finish. My hair wasn’t as defined as if I had used gel. Ideal if you prefer your hair to have light-weight soft curls for a more natural look.

Dry Hair:
Even though I used (SMCES) to smooth down edges or tame frizz or fly-always I had never used it on a full head of dry hair.

I decided to give it a go and apply (SMCES) to dry(blown-out) hair to style in (twist-out) and  it felt  very sticky. Even when it dried my hair remained to still have a sticky finish which remained for quite some time. I gave it another chance and styled it again dry (blown-out) hair which I spritzed with water which achieved much better results. Once again it left my hair with a soft, light hold without my hair feeling heavy or weighed down. It was not as sticky second time round.

Final verdict:
Great product, great ingredients, moisturising, smells yummy…defo worth the hype!

Cons:
Quite pricey
Can be sticky if used on completely dry hair
