O So Curly Satin Pillowcase

The most underrated haircare tip is the importance of the satin or silk pillowcase/scarf at night!

 
​I When I became natural it took me a long time to finally go out and buy a silk and satin scarf (yes I bought both!). Once I saw the difference changing my pillowcase fabric made, to the health of my hair, I have never gone to sleep without one! 
​So after years of sleeping with a scarf I decided to try the pillowcase option, at least now I wouldn't have to worry about my scarf coming off in the middle of the night. When I found out O So Curly had a double sided satin pillowcase (black and white) I just knew I had to try it.

​So when I received the pillowcase in the mail, snooze time couldn’t come quick enough! ​​

 After three weeks I decided to write my verdict and share my thoughts below.

•  Firstly, sleeping on a satin pillowcase is a pleasurable experience in itself. It has a cool and relaxing effect on you from the moment your head touches the pillow. The satin felt very smooth and refreshed against my skin and left it feeling soothed and moisturised. It did not absorb any of my moisturiser from my face unlike the plain cotton pillowcases. So not only is satin good for your hair but does wonders for the delicate skin on our face.

• My hair felt really smooth and moisturised in the mornings. Unlike satin or silk, cotton will absorb the moisture from the hair and the rough surface can lead to friction created by the hair strand rubbing against the pillowcase. This can lead to hair breakage - which is a big no-no!

• I loved that, unlike the scarf, I no longer needed to worry about my scarf coming off in the middle of the night. Or having to wake up to retie your scarf which tends to always be too tight! In fact it was a pretty carefree sleep knowing my hair and my skin were being cared for whilst I had my beauty sleep!

Overall: I loved the ease of the satin pillowcase and how it didn't need much thought. It was really handy that the pillowcase has an elastic band round the edge so it can be fitted around any standard size pillow.
I like that it was reversible and came in two colours allowing me to switch up the look. It’s also amazingly affordable considering it's like having two pillowcases in one.
Not only was it amazing on my hair but also amazing on my skin which is definitely a win-win situation!
